Laser as a display device

I’ve been thinking about ways of having a surface to interact with.

I’ve been thinking of POV systems a little. Also laser projection (I was thinking if combined a laser with an acceleration it could project information on to surfaces).

I just came across this interesting project by Albert Armea. I added another video from his youtube channel since it’s pretty cool.

  1. I actually have a set of galvos. I think they are from an industrial yag laser. I may get that running for fun.

But I think it would be fun to make some galvos.

Where is the write-up you’re mentioning?

  2. I came here looking for something else and got distracted…
Anyway, steppers are probably not the optimum choice for this kind of thing…
Besides the step granularity, they have considerable rotational inertia to fight against…

They do however require no feedback, perhaps the steppers found in automotive gauges might be a better choice…
Chan has a great write up about DIY laser galvanometers with closed loop capacitive feedback…
