I started off using a CNC machine to make box prototypes that I would eventually cut on my laser cutter (that was being built). As it turns out the CNC can make boxes fairly well and this has been a mechanism I’ve been using for a while.
You may argue, why don’t you just buy boxes?
1) Environment: Why not reuse discarded cardboard?
2) Economy and space: Keeping boxes of all sizes on hand requires a lot of space. You need to buy a lot of boxes to get a reasonable deal.
3) Flexibility: I can make boxes that don’t exist.
4) It’s fun.
Here are the trials and tribulations of making boxes.
