ModLab was fun last night. A small amount of regulars and a few new people strolled by.
I left my drawbot behind with an Artengine Arduino in case anybody wanted to give that a whirl.
I came across this blog post which suggests that a new hackerspace has opened.
Initially there was no contact information so I left comments to try and get details. I couldn’t get any information.
Well some people were notified since they are apparently open. I tried their Web site to find out more but none of the links work. I don’t know why people don’t just start up their Web projects with WordPress and keep it simple so it works.
I’m supposing you have to already be friends with the organizers or existing members to find out what’s going on.
I think another hackerspace is a great idea. But an open one would be even better.
I was in there Thursday evening and noticed they are installing real workspace! Yippie!
Workbenches, shelves, chairs and more!
I’ve really enjoyed my experience with my local HackSpace (Modlab). I’d like to meet more people within maker and hacker community so I’d like to do road trips (perhaps 2-4 weeks) to learn more about the wider community.
The more the merrier, so everybody who’s interested please stay in touch! Not dates are set so lets talk it up! Please comment or email me at email@example.com.
1) What times are good for you to make a trip?
2) Are there any other points of interest to add to the list?
I’d like to write about everything I learn on these road trips as well as take loads of pictures and video.
I’ve listed the hackerspaces and points of interest in the rough order they are on the map.
Looking at all the hackerspaces, it looks like there are two main legs of the journey. Toronto Cluster and East Coast Cluster.

Dec 5th note: According to their Web site, they are having trouble making rent.

I suppose the East Coast Cluster could run from Philadelphia to Portland. I know there are lots of conflicts in open house times so perhaps the trip could be done in two directions, once on the way down, and then on the way back up to catch what was missed on the way down.
