I’m considering this strategy against a colony of yellow jackets that are living in a hole. Usually you have access to their nest for easy removal but I’m trying to solve for the case where you only have access to a hole.
Here is a concept I’m considering.
I’m considering making some electrodes to put over their hole so it is hard for them to come and go without coming in proximity or contact with them.
I want to put high voltage through the electrodes when they are trying to enter the hole.
A motion detector will connect then disconnect power from the coil and the hope is that the back EMF will zap the yellow jackets.
Concerns: Will the back emf cook the relay switch?
update: Okay, I think I have an idea. A camera flash is a couple thousand volts.
